What is precote?
precote is a coating for threads of all kinds, similar to lacquer. Its characteristics as a locking and sealing element are effective after pressure and/or shear stress during assembly. Shortly afterwards the threads are locked against vibration and reliably sealed. Screws coated with precote form an integral fastening element with the threads resulting in several advantages. The development of precote is based on the modern oT-micro encapsulation technology. Adhesives proven for locking, fastening and sealing of threads are covered with a thin polymer wall.

  • whose pertinent use or processing are indispensible for good results,
  • whose assembly, disposition and storage cause additional costs,
  • whose securing and sealing qualities are unreliable and disputed.

What are the advantages of precoated screws?
precote combines the advantages of proven adhesive locking technology with oT-micro encapsulation technology. This means that precote is a progressive solution for all those fields of application where liquid adhesives have not been used due to processing or security reasons. Threads precoated with precote need no additional mechanical sealing and securing elements,

precote is formed by including the micro-encapsuled single components of two-component acrylate systems in binders containing solvents. After application and drying out of precote in its liquid state, a dry-to-touch, tack-free and corrosion inhibiting precote layer is achieved.

How does precote work?
When assembling those parts of the thread coated with precote, the microcapsules contained in the precote layer are ruptured by pressure or shearing stress. Liquid components are set free and cure together with the binder system which results in the desired locking and sealing effect.

precote precoatings are physiologically safe as the liquid adhesives, some of which are categorized as irritants, are completely isolated by the capsule's wall.

Assembly of thread parts precoated with precote
The procedure for assembling screws and threaded parts precoated with precote is basically the same as with uncoated threaded parts. Only the tightening of the screws for prestress or adjustment purposes should be completed within 5 minutes of assembling, otherwise the polymerisation structure might break up.
